Healed by Yielding to Love

It's a phenomenon that we are meant to love and love again, repeatedly.  What's more, we are meant to love and grow in love over and over in this life, especially after being hurt.

That's a concept the flesh cannot abide, isn't it? Indeed, no one but Holy Spirit enables us to pick up and love again or keep loving once we've been wounded.

As I've said here before, "forgive and you'll be forgiven" is what we need to remember.  I truly don't believe there would be forgiveness one toward another if God didn't set that (reasonable) stipulation.  His truth is the Master motivator, buckling and shielding us from all ruin and even further pain because, when we choose to forgive, we open our heart's door to His protection and impartation of Perfect Love deep within.

We never give to God without receiving from Him.  We can't "out give" Him, either. Praise Daddy for His law of reciprocity, friends, which simply says sowing reaps in kind:
"Be not deceived, God is not mocked; for whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap." (Gal. 6:7)
"... do the will of God from the heart, with good will doing service as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that whatever good anyone does he will receive the same from the Lord, whether he be slave or free." (Eph. 6:6b-8)
So, apart from knowing forgiving is the righteous thing to do, I've come to realize I'm blocking my own relationship and Peace with God by withholding it from anyone.  But it doesn't stop there, because once we forgive we're meant to allow God to fill the void with the only thing that casts out the fear of loving again: His PERFECT LOVE.

The notion of loving after being wounded is packed with fear of being re-wounded, let's face it.  Only by committing myself and my relationships to Christ's more-than-capable hands have I been enabled to genuinely love again. We need God's power to make us like Him and give us understanding in that place.

After jumping up and down and pitching my head against the wall over hurts and wounding I've found that - once I put my rattle down - if I'm willing to believe it's possible to forgive and love again because I know God is not a liar... and then if I accept and receive God's deliverance of my emotions simply because I know He's God and truly can do anything... when the dust of fear clears from my heart, all I see is His Heart of HOPE.  All I absorb is His LOVE and, most of all, I am supernaturally enabled to forgive.  It happens every time I yield to His whole purpose and will for my heart.  It happens every time that - no matter what's been done to me - I choose to forgive anyway (like I want God to forgive me).

Beloved, I know it hurts... but forgive anyway (like Christ did for us).  Trust God, love God, and give Him the favor His heart has asked of you so that He can cleanse you of all wounding and enable you to LOVE AGAIN. Doing so will make you unstoppable, undaunted recipients of God's saving, transforming, healing power.  The enemy can't touch us when we're encompassed within the shield of God's favor generated from submissive, obedient hearts.  And our obedience will always put a smile on the tender, compassionate heart of Almighty God.  He will reward us with good for the good we've done, Saints... don't forget that - for He Who declares it is Faithful.
"Fear none of those things which you shall suffer... be faithful unto death, and I will give you a crown of life." (Excerpt Rev. 2:10)

What's His Plan for You?

When I was a child, I wanted to do and be many things.  Yes I wanted to be a writer and a teacher, but I also thought about being a disc jockey, a world traveler, a police officer, and a lawyer.  I can see spiritual elements in all these desires but, as today's lovely scripture verse illustrates, God's purposes for me were the ones that prevailed.  Thank You, Jesus!

While writing and teaching are not my identity, both are definitely in my blood; both are huge parts of Daddy's blueprint for my life of service in Him.  My heart's desire could not possibly be better served in terms of the work of my hands for Jesus.  As always, the Lord God Almighty knows not only what's best for us, but what is for our certain good as holy vessels and inheritors of His Kingdom's holdings in Righteousness.  Amen.

God's purpose for my life became known to me through prayer; it's as simple as that.  My Christian family's petitions, my mom's, and my own were heard by God in Glory and He made His plan for my destiny known.  HE WILL DO THE SAME FOR YOU.
"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." (Matt. 7:7)
Daddy is desperately serious about every word in that passage, my friends.  Take Him at His word and ask that He reveal His purpose for your life.  Since His tender heart delights in pleasing His kids as well as Himself, you'll be splendidly surprised at how completely His plan fits and fulfills your being.

God bless you.

Hear Our Prayer...

Merciful God, You alone understand our heart's cry.  You know the fears and doubts we face, and You send us JOY and mercy in the midnight hour.  You don't fault us for crying or struggling with life's challenges.  You are our Refuge and our Strength.

Thank You, dear Father, for knowing the yearning of our hearts altogether... every sigh You have noted, every teardrop You have saved, and Your arms are outstretched continually toward us to comfort and anoint us with Your Counsel.  You honor and receive our contrition. You alone are God.

God of All Comfort, hear our prayer in the night silences, and secure us in Your steadfast, unfailing Love.  Teach our minds to cleave to Your Wisdom, and our hearts to Your forgiveness.  As You forgive and heal us, please enable us to forgive and release others from the bondage of our offense.

We love You and we dash ourselves upon You for restoration and recovery.  As we soak Your strong shoulders with our tears, enable our feeble bodies to receive Your refreshing and our spirits to be fortified with Your TRUTH.  Replace our need with all of Yourself; for we believe Your ears are open to our cry, and our petitions are heard through Your everlasting faithfulness.

We receive Your conviction, correction, strength, and pardon. We welcome Your hand of instruction and bask in the Light of Your "New Beginnings" showered down upon us in the glory of our eternal inheritance through Christ Jesus.  Thank You, Daddy.
"Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all." (Psalm 34:19)
In Jesus' Name, so says my soul... AMEN.

Go ahead... mock him!

If you've never read the 18th Chapter of 1 Kings in the Old Testament, I recommend you do.  It's a thrilling account of the power and Sovereignty of Almighty God our Father, brilliantly manifested in a showdown between the Prophet Elijah and the puny so-called "prophets of baal".  Here's a portion of it from which I'm taking the points of today's post:

"And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt you between two opinions? if the Lord be God, follow Him: but if baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.

Then said Elijah unto the people, I, even I only, remain a prophet of the Lord; but baal's prophets are four hundred and fifty men. Let them therefore give us two bullocks; and let them choose one bullock for themselves, and cut it in pieces, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under: and I will dress the other bullock, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under:  And call you on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the Lord: and the God that answers by fire, let Him be God.

And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken.  And Elijah said unto the prophets of baal, Choose you one bullock for yourselves, and dress it first; for you are many; and call on the name of your gods, but put no fire under.  And they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of baal from morning even until noon, saying, O baal, hear us. But there was no voice, nor any that answered.  And they leaped upon the altar which was made.  And it came to pass at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said, Cry aloud: for he is a god; either he is talking, or he is pursuing, or he is in a journey, or peradventure he sleeps, and must be awaked." (1 Kings 18:21-27)

Point One:

The enemy revels in failing his own.  Deception, failure, and cowardice comprise his twisted, evil identity so he will never "rescue" his flunkies or intervene on their behalf with sacrificial acts of any kind, ever. The enemy has no mercy and dispenses no grace. Period.

Point Two:

I love this one... It's okay to mock the enemy; he's self-mockery on a stick anyway.

Portraying himself as powerful, he has no power (but that which we give him); portraying himself as "light", he is total darkness and depravity; desiring to be "like the Most High", he has been cast down lower than the dust. Through our faith in Jesus Christ, the enemy is more debased than the most meager maggot beneath our feet.  As children of the Most High God, as heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, we ought to laugh as our God laughs... right in the enemy's face, knowing that his day is coming and, in so many ways, has already come!
"O, death, where is your sting? O, grave, where is your victory?" (1 Cor. 15:55)
Point Three:

Conversely, our God is THE Great and Mighty King of all kings in this or any universe!  HE IS THE GOD WHO ANSWERS BY FIRE to the saving, redeeming, self-sacrificing reconciliation of all His dear children!  HALLELUJAH!  There is none like Him in all existence, nor will there EVER be any beside or above Him as God and King, Master and Creator, Life, Breath, Health, Praise, and TOTAL SOURCE forever more!

HALLELUJAH again!  HALLELUJAH!

"And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel, and that I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word.

Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that You are the Lord God, and that You have turned their heart back again.  Then the fire of the Lord fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.  And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The Lord,  He is the God; the Lord, He is the God." (1 Kings 18:36-39)

Bless His Holy Name.

Heart Conditions

In further understanding Daddy's heart towards us, my thoughts went to the following scripture verse:
"In God is my salvation and my glory; the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.  Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.  Selah."  (Psalm 62:7-8)
The portion of that beautiful scripture which has touched me deeply since I was a young girl is, "pour out your heart before Him..."

As I've shared with you before, pretty much any time the Bible speaks of the "heart relationship" between God and us, my ears perk up.  I wondered as a girl if pouring out my heart before God was really what He wanted and was really okay with Him.  I wanted it to be that way with all of my being because - like so many people - although I didn't have a positive relationship with my earthly father I still desperately needed fathering.

But since I contemplate nearly everything, all the time, through the years a question formed in my heart regarding this scripture verse:
"If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me; but truly God has heard me - He has attended to the voice of my prayer." (Psalm 66:18-19)
Can you guess which portion of this passage stumped me?  Yep, the heart part - "If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me..."  It seemed like a contradiction to me that we would be urged to pour out our hearts before God, but also be told that - if iniquity is regarded in our hearts - we won't be heard by Him.

As always, enter Holy Spirit... I love Him for so many things, y'all, but especially for stuff like this.  He is the Master Teacher living right inside of us and, in addressing the query in my spirit, this is what He told me:

When iniquity holds favor in a heart, beloved, one's petitions to God are insincere.  The Lord will never deny the honest inquiries and entreaties of a heart simply bound by sin, desiring to repent... don't confuse the heart conditions.  Sincerity is always honored by the Father and, no matter what the sin, He will always give audience to a questioning mind desiring to know and receive more of Him, forsaking evil ways.  Only the heart that honors (or "regards") evil intentions will not be heard by God, for the motives of that heart are not genuinely desirous of His Truth.

The Lord is amazing, friends!  There is nothing we can't ask of Him; no query we can't take to Him in sincerity, seeking Truth.  When I'm stumped by sins, I can take those problems to Him, and He will hear me.  When I'm angry and banging my head against the wall, or when I'm so sad my rear end is just inches from the ground, I can take those negative attitudes to Christ, seeking His renewal and rest, and He will hear me.  As long as my heart is earnestly seeking a hearing for clarity, relief, and freedom, I can walk right into the Throne Room of Almighty God and be heard, corrected, released from all burden, and forgiven of all sin.

In short, I can always pour out my heart before Abba; for, indeed, He is a refuge for us. Amen.

Here's to Friendship!

The "Twins"
Eighteen years ago today, I rode to work with a co-worker.  It was one of the best things that's ever happened to me.  I only knew her from the company handbook, but God knew her soul, and He "knit" it to mine.

My twin sister Lynette is an irresistibly kind, giving, affable spirit.  She was breathed out of the loins of Abba the same time as I, though she came to earth three years earlier.  We've submitted our friendship and sisterhood to God over the years, and we've submitted ourselves to Him for individual Christian growth.  There have been highs and lows but never an end to our covenant relationship powered by the Godhead.  Friendship has taken on a whole new meaning in terms of agape love for me and Lynette.  In many ways the bond He's established between us has grown us up and still is doing so (especially for me).

The love of Christ is a gift that keeps on giving, regardless of our mood or surrounding circumstances; that's how He asks His children to handle relationships with one another. I have known new levels of humility and altruism since meeting Lynette.  I have come to deeper levels of "owning my own stuff" in self-inspection powered by Holy Spirit, and I have learned NOT to fear accountability and change.  So has Lynette.  Together as best friends in Jesus, we keep on going.  The years pass and we grow older, wiser, and more amusing (we're each other's greatest source of laughter, next to ourselves)!

Looking back over 18 years with Daddy governing our choices, I can truthfully say His agape love has saved the day.  For that, we are grateful beyond adequate thought or speech. (I cover this testimony in Christ's Blood, in Christ's Name.)

"This is the Lord's doing... it is marvelous in our eyes." (Psalm 118:23)

Here's to friendship in God's unfailing love, all over the world.  Amen.
