Higher and Higher...

Over the past few months I've seen God's discernment grow to higher levels within me. That's been very gratifying. Lately, I've also noted how adhering to God's desire for us to hold on to Him as He rides the stallion of our lives (with our heads solidly nestled between His shoulder blades to hear His heart) simultaneously governs my emotions and hones His Wisdom within me. It's what He promised would happen.

In short, when the enemy plots something for my hurt that God actually has foreordained for my good, I now spend more time gratefully praising Abba for His plan revealed than I do gritting my teeth at satan.

That's advancement, God-style.

Think about it - if our emotions get all out of whack, no one (including God) can do anything with us. It's not that God's powerless, it's that He won't bulldoze His way into our visceral realms to force us to behave. We have to choose to be clothed with Daddy's calming, righteous discernment; we must choose not to succumb to the enemy's chiding and tazing of our vulnerabilities. When we keep our eyes on Jesus (realizing Romans 8:28 is ALWAYS affecting our lives), there is literally nothing the enemy or his agents (I prefer the term "flunkies") can do to harm our emotions.  I love that.

Yep, these truths have existed all along but, when they take hold of my life in daily operation and I behold their harmonious interaction with my soul, I can't help but bless the Lord! Saying the enemy is powerless and pathetic is one thing; witnessing his incessant failures with true comprehension of God's Might is quite another. Praise Yahweh's Holy Name!

The Power of Reflection

Last weekend the Lord showed me a picture of how I am to view the trials through which He's brought me. I saw Him standing before me, to my right, and in the midst of His Body was a large rectangular mirror in the reflection of which I saw the triumph and victory He'd just accomplished in my life. Without ever turning around I reviewed the trials and testing I'd gone through, with JOY, delight, and awe.

Then Holy Spirit told me Abba never wants us to "look back"; rather, we literally are to "reflect" on what has come to pass in our lives and what He's taught us, by looking forward at Jesus. He explained that there is a significant difference between looking back and reflecting... something I've never specifically considered.

I thought about Jesus urging us to "remember Lot's wife." (Luke 17:32). When we look behind, we literally turn away from the new direction God has established in us. We change direction entirely and take our eyes off of Jesus to focus on what we see and interpret through our own eyes, instead of looking ahead at the Savior and reflecting on the victory He's accomplished, absorbing its testimony by His definitions, through His eyes. Those components are critically important, since we can't trust our own interpretations - ever.

God is amazing.

Seeing the Lord carrying me JOYFULLY on His shoulders through the mirror of His Body (which reflected truthfully the circumstances and victory surrounding the trial through which I'd come) positively impacted my emotions.  It reinforced the testimony coming out of the trial which He intends me to proclaim from the rooftops when His timing for it comes forth.

He'll do the same for you, beloved.

I pray we always remember never to turn away to "look back" at our trials; rather, as the scripture says, we are ever to look ahead unto Jesus Who is the Author and Finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). In the safety of His Body resides peaceful and powerful reflection of the accurate, everlasting, righteous testimony established on our behalf by Almighty God.

Amen.

His Hand or His Heart?

If most of us are honest, we'll admit that - at least starting out - we're more interested in seeing God's hand at work in our lives than His heart.  It may sound harsh or even strange, but the flesh loves to make demands of God on the "work" end of things. It's true.  The flesh wants "action", folks - and it wants it NOW - doesn't it?

"Do this for me, God... Do that for me, Savior... Right now, O, God... RIGHT NOW!"  I'm not saying God can't act quickly on our behalf, but I am saying that, very often, that's actually the cry of the flesh in "soulish" prayers that have little or nothing to do with the humility and maturity of the Spirit of Almighty God.

So then, what's it like to seek His HEART?  What does that really mean, and what elements does it entail?

I'll tell you right now, it's not about anything the flesh will enjoy... not at all.  Seeking the "heart" of Daddy means looking - first and foremost - to do things HIS WAY (on HIS TERMS), and on HIS SCHEDULE and TIME TABLE.  That's right.  And one of the highest forms of refinement applied to every child of God straight from His Heart is learning to wait on His will and plan in our lives.  What's more, seeking Abba's heart means not "figuring out" things on our own day-to-day, but allowing Holy Spirit to lead the way and do the decision-making in every aspect of life - ESPECIALLY in transforming our mindsets, views, and belief systems.  (Can't you just see the flesh cringing?!)

When we "seek first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness", what do you truly think that means?  Scripture also says that God's Kingdom is not meat and drink, but "righteousness, peace, and JOY in Holy Spirit", right?  Beloved, all those elements (Righteousness, Peace, Joy in Holy Spirit) are attributes of Yahweh's character.  They are components of His HEART!  So we are actually told directly by the scriptures what part of God we should be seeking first - not His hand, but HIS HEART!  For within God's heart is the very Kingdom of God that sustains us, the character that teaches us what it is to be true children of the Father, transformed into the image of Christ Who Himself is the exact image of God.  Amen!

Deny the flesh every day, beloved, trusting and believing that when we first seek God's HEART, we will see His hand in everything. Believe, and you will see!
HALLELUJAH!

Have a blessed Palm Sunday, everyone!

God Will Sustain You

Picture
Abba will give us courage to face the inevitable exposure necessary to advance in relationship with Him.  He'll strengthen and grant us the humility necessary to hear and receive truths about ourselves our flesh doesn't want to hear.  He will not leave us to our own devices, nor let us ultimately fall.  Stumbling is one thing (and He can keep us from that also), but utterly falling is another.  As long as we are willing to meet Him even half-way in His desires to change and elevate our lives, Holy Spirit will open our hearts to humility, conviction, correction, and release of all hindrances to our freedom, clear thinking, and resolve to show God's unconditional love to everyone.

Remember, there is no such thing as "losing face" or "looking bad" before God.  He already knows absolutely everything about our grossly-flawed, rancid flesh.  Abba only desires to bring us out of all fear of accountability and denial of our own issues.  He wants to loose us from all self-protections and structures. He wants us to embrace repentance so we'll be totally exonerated before Him and advance rapidly in the freedom He's planned for us.

I've learned first-hand that God will also enable us to trust His unfailing, unfaltering love of us through the times we must come into personal accountability to Him, so He can bring radical change and deliverance to our lives.  He'll bring us safely to the crossroads where we must choose between embracing pride/resisting change, or embracing His humility/welcoming change.  He'll love us through all of it, and He will enable us to love ourselves (which is really important).

Let Jesus deal with you; cast all your cares upon Him; know and believe that He won't hurt you.  He only desires to affect change within you for your certain good, so you will not ultimately fall, and He can be trusted to sustain you.
